About
Annabelle Kern, a young soprano was born in Frankfurt am Main and grew up in Germany and Switzerland.
In 2024, she will make her debut as Fiakermilli in Richard Strauss’ ARABELLA at the Bühnen Bern. In 2025, she will perform as Agnès from George Benjamin’s WRITTEN ON SKIN at the Prinzregententheater in Munich.
In the 23/24 season, the young soprano celebrated her operatic debut in Puccini’s LA RONDINE in the role of un cantore at the Zurich Opera House. She also made her debut at the Prinzregententheater in Munich in the rediscovered opera ZANAIDA by Johann Christian Bach as Cisseo.
Since 2023 she has been studying at the Bayerische Theaterakademie August Everding in the Master Opera with KS Prof. Christiane Iven. She completed her Bachelor’s degree at the Berlin University of the Arts under Prof. Carola Höhn, where she made her debut as Barbarina in July 2022 as part of the production of LE NOZZE DI FIGARO.
She also received important artistic inputs from Edith Wiens, Axel Bauni, Tobias Truniger and Sarah Tysman.
In addition to opera, song has been part of her everyday life since the beginning of her career. She has given regular solo recitals with her duo partner Valentina Pfister in the Zurich area since 2019.
She has won several prizes in Germany and Switzerland, including 3rd prize opera / operetta at Bundeswettbewerb Gesang, 1st prize at the LIONS Music Prize Germany in District 111ON and 3rd prize at the LIONS Music Prize Switzerland.
She has worked with conductors such as Marco Armiliato, Nicholas Carter and Oscar Jockel, as well as with directors such as Christof Loy, Vera Nemirova, Marco Štorman, Frank Hilbrich and Balázs Kovalik.
